Cynthia Thompson, News Director and 5:30 p.m. News Anchor at ABC10 - CW5, has a history of more than two decades in Upper Michigan and in the media. Cynthia holds Broadcasting & Film and Speech Communication degrees from the University of Central Missouri.

Cynthia came to the Upper Peninsula in 1988 to join her husband at K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base and, that same year, started her television career as a reporter and news anchor at WLUC-TV 6 in Negaunee, Michigan.

Since 1996, Cynthia has held a variety of radio and television positions including announcer, commercial spokesperson, consultant and managing short and long term promotions. One of her favorite employment opportunities was as a Basic Public Speaking instructor at Lake Region State College in North Dakota.

Cynthia enjoys volunteering, gardening, reading, helping her husband restore old cars, motorcycling and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Frank, have two daughters.
