Big Bay de Noc School Embezzlement

A school district is Schoolcraft County is trying to recover after learning its former business manager was a thief. That's according to John Peterson, superintendent of the Big Bay de Noc School District in Cooks. He says he contacted the Manistique State Police Post last month to report possible embezzlement by a subcontracted business manager working for the district.

Governor Candidate Hosts Super Bowl Party

One of the Republican candidates for governor visits the Marquette area and introduces himself to the area at a Super Bowl party. Rick Snyder was on hand last night at Wings-n-Things in Marquette Township, inside of Superior Lanes. Snyder is a former president of Gateway Computer whose Super Bowl ad depicts him as 'one tough nerd'.

2 Dead in Mackinac Island Snowmobile Wreck

2 women are dead after a snowmobile accident on Mackinac Island last night. Island police say they fell from a steep hill. The 2 women were sisters -- 59-year-old Karen Schwarck, from the island, and 57-year-old Edith Bonno of downstate Canton.

Plea Deal in SUV vs. Pedestrians Case

A downstate man accused of killing 3 women in Mackinac County by running them over with his SUV takes a plea deal. 28–year-old Dustan Bowen of Sanford pleaded no contest to 3 counts of negligent homicide on Friday. He also pleaded guilty to 3 counts of failure to stop at the scene of an at-fault accident resulting in death.

NMU Football adds 26 Players on Signing Day

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Bernie Anderson, the head football coach at Northern Michigan University, announces the following have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend NMU and play football for the Wildcats beginning in the fall of 2010. In the group, 19 are high school seniors while seven are transfers.
