Fire at Gladstone business

Firefighters were called to Mark's Auto Sales in Gladstone at 3:56 am after reports of smoke in the area were reported to Central Dispatch. Upon arrival, smoke was observed coming from the attic area of the business. Further investigation revealed a fire in the attic area.

Family Night at Aspen Ridge School

It was a fun filled evening at one Marquette County school tonight, where the community came together to celebrate the ending of another school year. Aspen Ridge School in West Ishpeming held it's 13th Annual Family Night. The school opened up it's doors to vendors from all over the western end of the U.

For the remainder of the week Cliffs is giving their employees a chance to drop off any waste materials they may have around their house, garage or yard.

Three Wildcats Qualify for Outdoor Championships

Finlandia lands 10 players on All-Independent D-3 Team

Courtesy of Finlandia Athletics Hancock, MI- Ending the season with a 26-8 record is all the team could hope for but were denied a bid into the post season regional tournament during the 2012 NCAA division III softball selection show. Despite the setback the Lions were able to show off their statistical superiority during the selection of the AD3I all-independent selection process with ten players onto both first and second teams as well as the Co-player of the year, Co-Pitcher of the year and Co-Coach of the year. Finlandia Honorees placed to the Association of Division III All-Independent Teams are listed below: Shawn Hendrickson: Co-Coach of the year Completing his fifth year at the helm of the lions Coach Hendrickson has managed a career 90-71 record and takes the Co-Coach of the year honors for the second year in a row.

Finlandia Baseball Places Five on the AD3I All-Independent Team

Courtesy of Finlandia Athletics Hancock, MI- After completing the 2012 baseball season Finlandia University has placed five players on the Association of Division III Independents All-Independent team.  Finishing with a 4-31 record was not the ideal season for the lions but with the all-independent selections out the teams improvement is noted by placing the most players in Finlandia history. Five players placed on the Association of Division III All-Independent Team listed below: James Brey (Hancock, MI): 1st Team Outfielder The senior outfielder for the lions was selected a first team outfielder by the AD3I all-independent team.
